Backcountry Cooking & Nutrition
This instructional course will cover the nutritional and logistical aspects of menu planning in the backcountry. you’ll learn what your body needs while on adventure, including replenishing calories and fulfilling nutritional needs. You’ll learn how weight, storage, and cooking method will impact your menu planning and packing, the pros and cons of pre-packaged meals, and the type of gear you will need for your backcountry kitchen. We’ll also share tips for menu planning on a budget, dietary restrictions, and allergies, as well as our favorite places to shop for backcountry supplies.
