Blackhead Range (10/5) Catskill 3500 Peak
On this day hike in the northeastern Catskills, we'll explore some of the wildest and most rugged hiking in New York, summiting between 1-3 Catskill 3500' peaks among Blackhead, Black Dome, and Thomas Cole. In early fall, the forest will be in the first stages of changing to spectacular fall foliage colors. The trail includes some fun scrambles and a long stretch along the gorgeous Batavia Kill mountain brook. From the summits, we’ll enjoy sweeping views over the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. The peaks, forests, and views along the Blackhead Range inspired the Hudson River School of Painters.
Cardio Intensity: Challenging.
Terrain: On trail. Steep, with some scrambling sections that require using hands for balance.
