Jane Street Capital - Adventure Day in Catskills!
Join us for a day of adventure in the Catskills Mountains on March 20!
Our day will include a variety of hiking options, from gentle to challenging, with plenty of time for bonding, exploring, and enjoying some downtime in the peaceful winter woods.
We’ll be exploring Kaaterskill or Platte Clove and the Escarpment, an area of the Catskill Forest Preserve that has been a popular destination for over 200 years. Home to legendary viewpoints, forests, waterfalls, brooks, and lakes, it’s no surprise that the famed hotels of the Catskills’ Golden era were located here. On the Escarpment, we'll see incredible views that inspired the Hudson River Valley School of Painters and authors like James Fenimore Cooper.
Our professional outdoor guides will serve a delicious, healthy lunch with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. We'll have snack options available throughout the day.
With a number of quaint towns located within 20 minutes of our destination, post-hike options include local breweries, restaurants, shops, and farm stands.
What to expect
Unless winter makes an encore in the coming weeks, we expect most, but not all, of the snow to have melted. If hard pack snow or ice persists at the time of our adventure, your guides will provide traction (snowshoes or microspikes) if needed
At this time of year, daytime highs can range from 25-55°F. We’ll update the suggested list below if we see conditions outside of that range.
What to bring
- Hiking boots or sturdy all purpose winter boots with a tread
- Extra socks
- Extra insulating layers
- 2 x 1-Liter water bottles
- Rain/wind shell
- Hat and/or sunglasses: the sun can be remarkably bright at this time of year, especially of there is still snow cover
- Mess kit: bowl, plate, cup, fork, and spoon, made of a durable material. Old takeover containers are a great option!
Your guides will handle all group gear, including safety, sanitation, water filtration, etc.
Children are welcome! Please include them in your reservation
