Discover the Transformational Benefits of Outdoor Adventure for Your Students
Our team of outdoor educators and wilderness guides collaborate with you to create an adventure that aligns perfectly with your philosophy and meets your students' unique goals and needs.

Outdoor Play and Learning Are Essential for Healthy Development

Provides essential technology detox in a screen-free environment
Teenagers spend over 8 hours per day in front of screens. An outdoor adventure provides a pressure-free opportunity to unplug and be present with themselves and their peers.

Fosters resilience, builds confidence, and teaches problem solving
Guided outdoor adventures allow students to step outside familiar settings and try new things in a safe environment, which increases self-confidence and improves problem solving and decision making skills.

Decreases stress and anxiety and improves mental health
Time in nature has been scientifically proven to lower the physical markers of chronic and acute stress during an adventure and long after we leave the woods.

Applies to all learning styles
Our guides are experienced in creating adventures accessible for all bodies and all abilities and delivering differentiated instruction to all learning styles.

Forms closer community bonds
Time in nature increases happiness, breaks down barriers, and fosters bonding. The shared challenge and awe of an adventure encourages collaboration, socializing, and an authentic sense of togetherness.

Encourages an appreciation of nature and the environment
Spending time in nature during childhood fosters an appreciation for the environment and the natural world. This is especially essential for children growing up in an urban or suburban environment with limited access to the outdoors.

Karl Palmgren, HEAD OF UPPER SCHOOL, NEW CANAAN COUNTRY SCHOOL
"Besides being extremely experienced and professional outdoor guides, Dave and his crew from Destination Backcountry understand and connect with kids in authentic and meaningful ways. Each day we were with them, the guides, through both word and deed, helped our kids understand the importance of both independence and pushing yourself beyond your limits and interdependence and the importance of being a fully integrated member of a group."
