Join us for a one-of-a-kind winter adventure! Skating outdoors is a magical experience. Say goodbye to crowded rinks as we skate on natural ice on a frozen ponds nestled in a Catskills winter wonderland, surrounded by the fresh mountain air.. This trip isn't about perfection or competition. We'll enjoy skating the way it was originally done for transportation and play. You’ll be guided by Libby McGrosky, a Team USA ice skater and professional coach who’s dedicated to helping you make the most of every glide! 

About your guide: Libby McGrosky is a Team USA ice skater with over 20 years of experience and a passion for bringing ice skating and nature together. They have represented USA in multiple international competitions, and they are currently a professional ensemble member with Ice Theatre of New York. They are also a coach at Wollman rink and coach for figure skating in Harlem. Originally from rural Pennsylvania, Libby combines their love of skating with a deep connection to the outdoors, and can’t wait to share this special experience with you!

The Destination Backcountry difference: You’ll be guided by a licensed NYS guide who will ensure that the ice conditions are safe and ideal for skating, giving you peace of mind while you skate. After working up an appetite, we’ll gather around a roaring campfire, where you can enjoy a warm and restorative bowl of soup, along with hot beverages to keep you cozy as you take in the winter landscape.
